Our machinery

We show the machines and technology we use every day to grow, harvest, sort, store and pack our vegetables.

Harvest
AVR Puma 3 harvester picking up onions from windrows

AVR Puma 3

The self-propelled harvester that brings in our potatoes and onions.

The AVR Puma 3 is our self-propelled four-row harvester. A 469 hp Volvo engine and an 8-tonne bunker let us work fast and without stops, at night too. We dig our potatoes with it, and at onion harvest it picks up the windrows laid earlier by the windrower and unloads on the move onto trailers, without stopping.

Grimme WV 180

The windrower that lays our onions in windrows to dry.

Our onion harvest starts with the Grimme WV 180. This mounted windrower lifts the onions across a 180 cm working width, cleans them of soil on two rod conveyors and lays them in even windrows, where they dry in the field. It is the first stage of our two-phase harvest: the harvester then follows and picks the onions straight from the windrows.

Tractors

Fendt and John Deere tractors

A fleet from 155 to 415 hp, guided by GPS to the centimetre.

Our fields are worked by Fendt and John Deere tractors. We run Fendt 942, 936, 828, 724 and 620 Vario. Alongside them work a John Deere 8RX 410 on four tracks, which compacts the soil less, and a John Deere 6930 Premium, used among other things to haul onions. All of them are guided by GPS with RTK correction, so every pass is straight to the centimetre.

Fendt tractor with the Ecorobotix ARA spot sprayer in the field

Ecorobotix ARA

A spot sprayer that sees every single plant.

The Ecorobotix ARA is an ultra-precise sprayer. Cameras and AI tell the crop from the weeds, and 156 nozzles across 6 metres spray spot by spot, on a 6x6 cm grid, only where needed. The main crop stays completely untouched, the produce is better quality, and we use around 70% less chemicals. It is one of only three machines like this working in Poland.

Trimble GPS with RTK correction

Guiding machines to centimetre accuracy.

We guide our machines across the field with Trimble GPS and RTK correction. The real-time corrected signal gives centimetre accuracy, so we drive evenly pass after pass, with no overlaps or gaps. That saves seed, fertiliser and fuel.

John Deere Auto Pilot

Automatic parallel steering for the tractor.

The John Deere Auto Pilot steers the tractor in parallel automatically. The operator watches the work while the machine holds the line. Together with RTK correction and variable-rate application it is the backbone of our precision farming: even work, less fatigue and lower fuel use.

13,000-tonne onion store

Our own store with ventilation and drying.

We keep our onions in our own store with a capacity of around 13,000 tonnes. Controlled ventilation and drying keep the skin dry and the onions sound for many months. That lets us time our sales, and together with set-grown onions coming off the field in early summer we supply onions all year round.

DOWNS CropVision optical sorter

Cameras and AI sort every single piece.

We sort our onions, potatoes and red beets on the DOWNS CropVision optical sorter. Industrial cameras and AI scan the whole surface of every piece, a full 360 degrees, and reject stones, soil clods and pieces with defects. The machine handles up to 100 tonnes an hour, so large batches move fast and the buyer gets clean, even produce.

Onion packing line and palletiser

Automated sorting and packing.

We sort and pack our onions on an automated line, and a palletiser stacks the finished packs. We pack loose, in big bags and in sacks, choosing the calibre and format to suit the buyer. Automation gives repeatable quality and fast turnaround on larger orders.
